Possible Mission Trip?

Putting It to Good Use

My parents and I have been talking and we are trying to find a way for me to make a trip to Belarus in June. We aren't 100% on it happening, but it would be a great experience if it happened. I would be going to an English camp with people my age and "attempting" to talk to them. Another thing we are looking into is finding a way to get our friend Sergey from Belarus to here for a week or so. It would be pretty cool to have someone from another country stay at your house for that long, and to meet someone who you have only seen online. He also says he was the best player on his high school basketball team, so I'm sure he'd enjoy the basketball goal in our backyard.

Updates on my life would include my girlfriend breaking up with me, which really sucked. I'm only 17 though, and it being my first relationship I can't expect too much. Life goes on or whatever they say. I'm looking forward to co-op starting back, especially with the coding class, which reminds me: I really hated having to blog at first, but it's not that bad. I get to talk about pretty much anything that interests me, plus it's something I can do to take a break from schoolwork and not get yelled at.

Tonight, 1/10/2018, I'm actually leading a bible study for my youth group. We were given the option to choose a piece of "the armor of God" and make an entire lesson about it. I didn't want to, but after some pressure from my youth pastor (all he really said was, "I think you would do good with it") I decided to focus on the belt. I have a lot planned, so typing it all would be very exhausting. And it's more of a physical "group lesson" sort of thing, if that makes sense. That's pretty much everything going on. I hope everyone enjoyed Christmas.

  1. That’s awesome that you led a bible study! I hope it went well! Going to Russia would be so cool, fingers crossed that it will happen 🤞🏼.

The Spider And The Fly

“W ill you  walk into my parlour?” said the Spider to the Fly,  'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;   The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,    And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.” “Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “to ask me is in vain,  For who goes up your winding stair can never come down again. ” “I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;  Will you rest upon my little bed?” said the Spider to the Fly. “There are pretty curtains drawn around; the sheets are fine and thin,  And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in!” “Oh no, no,” said the little Fly,  “for I've often heard it said,  They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed! ” Said the cunning Spider to the Fly,  “Dear friend what can I do,  To prove the warm affection I 've always felt for you?   I have within my pan...

The Harlem Hellfighters

Becoming an Author    For my American literature class, I have to write a short-story. I've decided to write based on the Harlem Hellfighters. They were officially known as the 369th infantry in WWI. An entire infantry of African-Americans. Americans at the time showed hatred toward them, to the point of giving them to France because they refused to fight alongside blacks. In France, they were treated like any other regiment, also keeping their uniforms besides their new French helmets.    The Hellfighters were one of the most impressive people on the battlefield. Pvt. Needham Roberts heard a German patrol entering his designated area by cutting barbed wire. He accidentally loaded a French magazine into his American gun, jamming it. He then fought off the patrol using the rifle as a club and a bolo knife, killing at least four and wounding about 20 more. Roberts was the first American awarded the Croix de Guerre. He wasn't given the Medal of Honor until 2015,...

Повторе́нье - мать уче́нья

Repetition is the Mother of Learning    I love the way that sounds. It's the Russian equivalent of our "Practice makes perfect," and perfectly describes learning any language. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. And even then, you barely know it. I was recently thinking about my future, which I'm sure all parents pressure their children to think about. I've considered a few careers, but I've narrowed it down to two. Being a chemist would be interesting and in high demand, especially where there are many chemical plants. I started to consider it after taking chemistry and finding it enjoyable, but I wouldn't say it's easy.   The second is becoming a linguist. It's more of a dream than anything I feel like I could actually reach. I love learning Russian. If you talk to me about Russian, I can go on for hours about it, believe me. We've looked at some options, such as colleges and military. College is an easier option, but it's expensive. If I we...
