It's been around three months since the last blog post and a lot can happen in that amount of time. My parents have gone to Belarus and returned, I'm apparently doing good at my job since I got a bonus, and I'm making friends with people in my youth I normally don't talk to. I was going to jokingly say something like: "Well not much has happened for me in that time," but that wouldn't be right.
The trip to Belarus was a success and I'm 2 weeks from my own trip there, I'm pretty hyped about it. The Brest region of Belarus is extremely westernized, even to the point of people knowing bits of English. I'm hoping to use my limited Russian knowledge to communicate with those who may not know as much English as others and grow in my knowledge of Russian as well, all the while preaching the Gospel.
I got a bonus at work surprisingly, and to be honest, I was terrified when one of the owners called me into their office. I was sure I was going to get "the pink slip" for some reason. They ended up saying that I've been doing my job and staying busy, even chatting to the customers about how much I love my skates and even recommending certain models to them. The entire experience gives me a sense of pride in my work and powers me to do more and I'm hoping it lasts.
I'm going to Belarus soon, which costs a lot of money, so I probably wasn't going to get to go to youth camp this year. Amazingly, things lined up where I could fill someone else's spot since they cancelled. The only catch is that they chose to do Centrifuge, not Missionfuge. This stuck me with a lot of members of the youth I typically don't talk to, mostly the girls of the youth. Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking, but I never really talked with any of the youth girls until then. I ended up being better friends with them and a few of the younger youth guys.
All in all, the past three months have been interesting, and I'm certain I left plenty of other stuff out. I'm hoping that by blogging I'll start everyone back up as well. I only wrote all of this because I saw that no one else has been blogging and I'm genuinely interested in what everyone else is blogging about. Just trying.
Yours truly,
Tristan
